PROFILE :

Basic Informatoin: Mason is a white and black male, with no known health issuse or injuries. He has last seen a vet within the last year.

Socialization: Mason is described as being friendly and outgoing with strangers. He allows for attention and petting. He has spent time with young children ans is very respectful and affectionate with them. He plays gentle with adults and children. He has spent time with other dogs and is playful with them. He has not spent time with cats.

Behavior: Mason has no bite history and is not bothered by loud noises. He has no resource guarding behavior with food or toys, and allows for all bathing and grooming. He is not bothered when disturbed while sleeping or being pushed off the furniture. he does not alert bark when someone approaches the house or yard.

For a new family to know: Mason has a low energy level and is very affectionate, playful and friendly. He likes to follow the owners around and has been an indoor dog. He sleeps in his own bed and eats dry food. He is house trained with no accidents, and goes outside on grass. He is well behaved when left alone in the house and has not been crate trained. He knows the commands sit, down come and stay. He walks on a leash and does not pull hard.

Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment.

Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth.

Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc.

Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.

Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.

Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.

Summary: Mason was social, and allowed all handling. He showed no concerning behavior.

PLAYGROUP:

When off leash at the Care Center, Mason engages in rough play with a group of playful dogs. He is slightly sexually motivated, and can be selective with males. According to Mason’s previous owner, Mason is playful around other dogs. The Behavior Department recommends that Mason be placed in a home with resident dogs that match his energy and is well socialized. All introductions should be done slowly and under supervision.

During the initial examination Mason was very sweet, easily handle able. Did well for all medical handling and procedures.

His previous owner describes Mason as a playful, affectionate, friendly dog. Mason displayed medium energy and movement throughout assessment.

Mason will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised.
