A volunteer writes: Teddy Bear is just as cuddly as his name suggests, a gorgeous big boy who combines the goofy friendliness of a Labrador with the big-pawed beauty of a Newfoundland and while he may be healing from some post-surgery boo-boos, his get up and go is still very much getting up and going! He seems to be extremely house trained and pees a river as soon as we’re out the door before pulling me excitedly into the yard, knocking his Elizabethan collar against every corner and trash can then motoring on without a care in the world. Petting is appreciated but treats are ignored and tennis balls poo-pooed in favor of smooshing his face longingly against the gate as he watches the dogs in neighboring pens. Out in the street he greets all comers with happy tail wags and a soft body and while he’s not able to participate in playgroup due to his injuries, I’ve no doubt that once the ‘cone of shame’ is removed he’d be happy to enjoy a doggie playdate or a trip to the park. Teddy Bear is no toy but he is an adorable doofus who has the strength to keep up with an active family and the soft nature to play well with everyone in it. Give him a chance to show you what he’s made of and he will quite literally run with it so put on your sneakers and hightail it to our Manhattan Care Center, Teddy Bear can’t wait to meet you!

For more information on adopting from the NYC AC&C, or to find a rescue to assist, please read the following: http://urgentpodr.org/adoption-info-and-list-of-rescues.

If you are local to the Tri-State, New England, and the general Northeast United States area, and you are SERIOUS about adopting or fostering one of the animals at NYC ACC, please read our MUST READ section for instructions, or email helpdogs@urgentpodr.org. Our experienced volunteers will do their best to guide you through the process.

* We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.*
