02/24/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Teddy is the perfect name for this big, gentle bear of a dog! He is quiet in his cage when I approach, but after putting him back I’ve caught him howling. He rarely pulls on leash, seems housebroken, and eagerly “sit”s for treats. He does not seem like the type to be in-your-face demanding affection, but when you call him over or baby talk to him he instantly transforms into Mr. Wiggly! He loves to be petted and will glance back at me when I scratch his butt, his content face being hit with his wagging tail. When I take him off leash he doesn’t seem that interested in the tennis ball I throw for him, but follows me around and seems happy to just sit with me on the bench and watch the world pass us by. He is truly a joy to be with — come see for yourself at Brooklyn ACC!
02/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Teddy came to us as a stray; so we don’t have any other behavioral information other than what has been observed in the shelter. Teddy had very loose and soft body language when entering the behavior room. He was very interested in interacting with the assessor when in the room with very soft body language. He allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining his soft body language. He followed the assessor at the end of the leash with soft body language during the tag interaction. He showed no interest in the toy item on this portion of the assessment. The behavior department believes that Teddy can go to an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Dog licks lips. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest.
02/21/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, Teddy greets at the gate with a tense body posture but with a soft face while sniffing. Once let into the pen with the helper dog Teddy becomes very intense, rushes in and immediatly mounts her. Attempts to interrupt him do not slow him down.
