I am a spayed female brown and black germ shepherd and chow chow mix. The shelter thinks I am about 10 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 05/09/2016 from NY 11001, owner surrender reason stated was LLORDPRIVA.

Hx: Geriatric exam S: Tense, does not make eye contact, allowed all handling. Muzzled for most of exam. O: BAR-H, BCS 6/9, MMs pink and moist, CRT <2 sec EENT: No discharge OU, AU, nose. Moderate tartar and gingivitis. PLNs: Not enlarged. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Tense abdomen M/S/I: Decreased muscle mass in both hind legs, decreased range of motion in both hips. Thick fur coat. No skin lesions noted. UG: Female A: 1. Arthritis in both hips 2. Moderate dental disease Short-term prognosis: Good P: No immediate treatment needed at this time. 05/09/16 10:18 Basic Information Teddie was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to owner being unable to find proper housing. Owner has had Teddie for almost ten years, after adopting her as a puppy from North Shore Animal League. Owner says Teddie has some lumps on her chest, and was last seen by the Vet this past September. Socialization & Behavior Teddy is described as being initially shy when meeting strangers, but will soon become comfortable. Teddy has not According to owner there have been no issues of Teddy biting anyone or another animal. Teddy gets scared when hearing thunder and will attempt to hide. Owner says if she touches Teddy food while eating she’ll just stop and wait, and allows her to remove items and toys form her mouth. Teddy is said to be calm and listen when told to get off of furniture. If disturbed while sleeping Teddy is unbothered, Teddy dies not like baths but will deal with them. Teddy is said to be calm if someone unfamiliar approaches the home, she’ll just remain alert. For a New Family to Know Teddie is described as friendly, playful, and shy with a medium activity level. When home she sometimes follows her owner, and sometimes stays in her favorite spots. Teddie enjoys stuffed toys. Teddie was not walked, but was given free reign of client’s yard, and is house-trained to use the bathroom outside. Teddie was fed both wet and dry food in the Purina brand. Owner says Teddie is well-behaved when home alone, and behaved when left in the house. Teddie understands the commands sit and come. Behavior during Intake Teddie was slightly stressed during intake. She initially paced after her owner left. After a moment Teddie allowed petting, and allowed counselor to remove her leash and collar. Teddie allowed all handling to be conducted and showed no signs of aggression during intake.

A volunteer writes “Teddie was a little shy at first. It took some coaxing to get him leashed up and out of the kennel. He was very gentle, though. Never defensive. He was very calm during the walk, with a nice loose leash the whole time. He never lunged at any passers by nor dogs. He had an admirer in the park and another on the street. He’s real handsome and a gentleman to boot!”

Teddie came into our center as an owner surrender citing housing issues. She is described as initially shy when meeting strangers, but soon warms up. Owner reports Teddie isn’t bothered if anyone touches her Food, Toys, Treats. It is reported Teddie is housebroken and well behaved when home alone. Teddie is described as friendly, playful, and shy with a medium activity level. Teddie was slightly stressed during intake. She initially paced after her owner left. After a moment Teddie allowed all handling. Teddie did not pull on leash during her relief walk. She was tense during Look item, eyes averted. Teddie raised lip during Sensitivity item, therefore remaining tactile portions of the assessment were skipped. Teddie showed minimal interest in Toy, sniffing a few times but not fully engaging. This may be due to environment as owner reports Teddie enjoys stuffed toys. When off leash with other dogs, Teddie avoids greeting, and actively moves away from approach. Teddie must be placed with a New Hope partner. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, body tense. her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 5. Dog raises lip. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog sniffs, then walks away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Teddie avoids greeting, and actively moves away from approach.

When off leash with other dogs, Teddie avoids greeting, and actively moves away from approach. Based on Teddie’s observed discomfort, the behavior department feels that Teddie should be given time to decompress in a new environment before beginning introductions with other dogs. 5/12 update: Teddie is avoidant and runs away when greeted.
