A volunteer writes: Sweet and gentle, Taz is trying to make the best out of this strange new environment. Surrendered to our care when the only family he’s ever known lost their home, we’re told that he’s friendly and outgoing with new people and relaxed, playful and tolerant with children and other dogs. He showed off his housetraining skills the moment we were out the door and has lovely leash manners walking spryly and nicely by my side. One would never know this little guy is a senior! Off leash in a pen he explores enthusiastically and wags his little stubby tail at every dog that comes close. He’s so cute! Taz takes treats gently, and loves to have his head rubbed, pushing into my hand as I massage his face. There doesn’t seem to be a person or dog this little dude doesn’t like! Taz needs to gain some weight and have a spa day to trim his nails, get a bath and grooming, but needs no improvement on his sweet personality. There’s nothing like a senior, calm, gentle, and appreciative of everything coming their way – ask to meet little sweet Taz today!
PROFILE:
BASIC INFO
Taz is an 11 year old male Cocker Spaniel. His family got him from a pet store but had to surrender him because they were evicted and don’t have a place to bring him.
SOCIALIZATION
Taz is friendly/outgoing with new people. He’s relaxed, playful, tolerant, and plays exuberantly with children and other dogs. He’s never bit anyone.
BEHAVIOR
He hides during storms. He doesn’t mind when someone takes food/treats/toys from him, moves him off furniture, holds/restrains him, or wakes him up. He moves around a lot during baths. He doesn’t mind being brushed unless his coat is matted, in which case it makes him nervous. He’s nervous during nail trims.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Taz’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, quiet, and medium energy. He follows his family around. He likes chew toys and plays fetch and chase. He lived inside and slept on a dog bed. He eats dry and wet Iams dog food. He’s housetrained, potties anywhere outside, and doesn’t have accidents if he’s walked shortly after he eats and drinks. He’s well-behaved while home alone. He went for brisk walks and jogs and sometimes pulled on his leash.
INTAKE
Taz had a soft body during intake. He wagged his tail fast while I pet him, talked to him, scanned him (-), and collared him. He sat and looked up at us during pictures. He sat or stood next to me while I worked on the computer. He didn’t pull on his leash.
