03/23/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I wanna dance with somebody! So what if that someone is a pint sized bat-eared pittie named Tango! Tango is a stunning boy, with the shiniest blue coat, and those ears! Don’t even get me started on those ears! Tango walks pleasantly on the leash, appears to be very housebroken and is friendly toward other dogs. For being so young, Tango is quite mild mannered. But he still gets his bouts of puppy playfulness, where he zooms around (maybe he’s dancing!) and even jumps up on me to solicit attention. He is very treat motivated and learns quickly. Tango will need pet parents that are prepared to give him the training and structure that all puppies need. So don’t leave Tango on the dance floor all by himself, come to the Brooklyn Care Center and ask to be his partner today!
03/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tango was brought in as a stray surrender so her past behavior in a home is unknown. At intake Tango was reported to be very playful and affectionate. He allowed all handling and was easily collared by an Admissions Counselor. He was also reported to be friendly and tolerant of all handling during his medical exam. During SAFER Tango was excitable when interacting with the assessor. He allowed all handling without issue, but was a bit mouthy (no pressure applied). He was playful during the tag interaction, and only needed a bit of pressure to his cheek to be pushed out of the food bowl during the food item, and he was easy to handle when chewing on the toys and rawhides. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body licks hands while lips are long. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Food: 2. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog:When off leash with other dogs, Tango entered the pen with loose and bouncy body language, and immediately engaged in rough and rowdy play with a female helper dog.
03/24/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
