02/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Taino walks calmly on leash. He looks friendly, wagging tail, soft body but doesn’t like to be petted. The behavior team was unable to collar him. He became uncomfortable; he stands tall, giving a low growl. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Taino was not interested in toys. During intake Taino had a tense body. When approached by staff he retreated, began to growl and show teeth. He accepted treats but did not allow to be collared. When a Squeaky toy was pressed he began wagging his tail and opening his mouth with a bit more relaxed body but continued to growl if approached. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
