01/24/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Even his intake picture shows him with an ear to ear grin! And, during the intake process he rolled over for a belly rub, gave kisses and never stopped wagging his tail. I mean, seriously?! How can you not fall in love with a dog who is all about love, kisses, friendship and belly rubs? So happy to come out to play he loved draping himself over my lap for some hugs, has a wonderful playful energy, is fabulously handsome in his caramel coat, his eyes clear, bright and mischievous. T-Rex loved playing with a plush toy, gives stand up hugs and kisses, and has this amazingly sweet energy that could power your cell phone for a day. He solicits play with other dogs in group and is described as “wiggly and playful”…he’s Mr. Social Butterfly! T-Rex is looking for an active, fun, playful and loving family. He’s only a puppy at a year old, and is looking for his happily ever after.
01/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
T Rex pulls a bit on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, mouthy. T Rex was excited and mouthy (light) during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was calm and relaxed when playing tag with assessor. T Rex took the toy away but had soft body language. T Rex is quick to use his mouth in play and has poor body awareness, resulting in him mouthing handlers with light pressure. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and open mouth, mouths the hand, but does not apply pressure. Or, dog licks hands while lips are long. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears relaxed, wagging tail, open mouth. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. When off leash with other dogs T Rex is wiggly and playful. He offers a play bow at the gate then enters the yard and quickly begins to solicit play. He may posture to mount but when the helper dog continues to solicit he turns his focus back on play.
01/20/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs T Rex is wiggly and playful. He offers a play bow at the gate then enters the yard and quickly begins to solicit play. He may posture to mount but when the helper dog continues to solicit he turns his focus back on play. He is currently unaltered and has not yet been introduced to a female. T Rex entered the care center as a stray so his in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. Based on these observations the behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before being placed into a home with another dog.
