08/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sweetie Pie came into our care centers as a stray, any past behavior in the home is unknown. During intake, Sweetie Pie allowed all handling and was reported to be friendly. Upon entering the SAFER room, he displayed social behavior towards his handler. Sweetie Pie readily allowed all handling portions of the assessment to be conducted without issue, body loose. Sweetie Pie did display some concern during the resource portion of the assessment where he guarded a toy. His body was stiff when approached; he then vocalized and snapped, grabbed and bit the assess-a-hand. Recovery was not easily achieved as Sweetie Pie remained focused on the hand several minutes after. Because of the severity of this behavior, the department believes Sweetie Pie would benefit best from a New Hope placement partner who can provide an experienced foster home where he is allowed decompression before any introduction to new and unfamiliar situations. Force-free, reward based training is advised. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog stands with his tail low and wagging, and comes toward the Assessor in a friendly manner when the Assessor ceases moving. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 5. Dog attempts to bite Dog-to-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Sweetie Pie greets the other dog displaying soft body language. He is sexually motivated, persistently sniffing the female dog’s genital area, but does not attempt to mount. He briefly listens to handler interruptions and explores the pen before returning to sniffing.

08/26/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Sweetie Pie was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. 8/26: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Sweetie Pie greets the other dog displaying soft body language. He is sexually motivated, persistently sniffing the female dog’s genital area, but does not attempt to mount. He briefly listens to handler interruptions and explores the pen before returning to sniffing.
