09/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: When I first walked up to Sunshine’s cage, she was lying on the floor wedged in between her bed and the wall–clearly not used to a cage, and trying to pretend she was somewhere else. A shy little lady, getting her to come out and go for a walk took a little coaxing. Sunshine has very long nails and her hesitance makes me think she didn’t go out very much in her previous home. Once we get outside, Sunshine is very eager to greet other dogs and to explore her surroundings, although she is still a bit shy with new people–Sunshine is so happy to see other doggies playing in playgroup, in fact, that she tries to lie down and refuse to go back inside! 🙂 When we sat down together to take a break, Sunshine was more than happy to receive scratches on her back, and in fact, started rolling around on the ground asking for me (see video). True to her namesake, Sunshine is a bright little lady full of joy, but she does need a bit of encouragement to get there. Sunshine will need an experienced adopter who is patient and willing to move at her pace, as she’s shy and nervous about exploring the outside world again. Whoever adopts Sunshine will be blessed with the opportunity to help a shy dog learn to trust and love again– an opportunity I can say from my own experience is immensely rewarding. Please come and let Sunshine’s light shine on you today at the Brooklyn ACC.
