03/31/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/31/16 20:49 These 8 dogs were seized by police from an apt after their owner was evicted. They were left in the apt in crates. Police had given them dog food. They all were relaxed around each other. They would sniff each other and sometimes play with each other with loose, wiggly bodies. They were dirty on their undersides and rear ends, apparently soaked in urine. His nails are somewhat overgrown. He had a loose, wiggly body, open mouth, and wagging tail while we pet him, scanned him (-), collared him, and positioned him for pictures.
WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Hal is a tiny miny adult who came in with a host of other dogs, males and females, all abandoned in an empty apartment. He is a golden nugget, too thin but dressed quite nicely. His care was not great to say the least but his wonderful disposition toward people and other dogs was left intact. Hal is quite shy, a bit skittish but looking for attention from people as well as from his peers. He really dances on his hinds and bounces like a show horse. He enjoys caresses and treats that he takes properly from my hands. He pulls on the leash like his housemates and does his business on the way. We can not guarantee, though, that he is house trained. In playgroup with other dogs, Hal is enjoying himself offering bows and paw slaps…I have appreciated my time with every dog from this pack…Hal is no exception….Given a chance, he will make a great little friend, a forever companion you will not regret to have at your side. Hal needs you..Come and meet him and take him home as he so hope…
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
hal walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was a bit excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. hal had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He was not interested in toys. Hal did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: Hal engages in play with the female helper, offering bows and paw slaps.
04/04/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Hal is interested in other dogs and will engage in play with females (he has not been introduced to a male dog). He came from a home with 7 other dogs (both males and females were in the home), but he arrived as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with them are unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction to ensure compatability with the resident dog. When off leash with other dogs, Hal greets politely, then postures to mount the female greeter. 4/5 update: Hal engages in play with the female helper, offering bows and paw slaps.
