During intake, Sugar was initially nervous and backed away from admissions counselor, once comfortable jumped on counselor to solicit attention and allowed all handling. She was calm upon entering SAFER assessment area. Sugar allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, slight wagging tail. She leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, mouth closed. Sugar was distracted and unresponsive to touch during Tag game, briefly grabbed leash but relinquished very quickly. She gently pulled her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Sugar took Toy away, body a bit stiff. She investigated the helper dog, then turned away. Due to her potential for possible possessiveness, the Behavior Team feels Sugar would do well with an Experienced adopter who does not have very young children and should be left alone while eating.
