A volunteer writes: “Cause time slips away, skies fall apart. It ain’t too hard, a universal heart.” Definitely one of my favorite lyrics by singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson. And while I’d love the chance to meet the artist himself, imagine my delight at meeting one better. His furry namesake! 2 year-old Sturgill is a big, chocolate kiss. He’s warm, delicious, addictive. And one minute, one hour, or even one day with this wonderful brown bear would never ever be enough. At 76 pounds, Sturgill is more than enough to love, but an easy walker and perfectly mannered. Well, except for one thing. While Emily Post might advise you to politely greet strangers with a smile, a kiss on the cheek, and if you’re feeling extra forward a hug…with Sturgill? You’re getting all three. And not only that. You’re getting them once, twice, and then over and over again. Are you complaining? Nope. You’re giggling, laughing, and all smiles yourself. And when he climbs up on your lap to give you one more chocolate hug, you forget your manners too and bear hug him right back. Sturgill came into our care after being abandoned with another pup. Now this chocoholic can’t imagine ever parting with the greatest smile in town, but the good news is that Sturgill’s now ripe and ready for his new forever family. “Time slips away, skies fall apart.” But Sturgill? He’ll forever have your heart. Sturgill is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.
