06/03/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: It’s said that animals know who their heroes are, and I believe that. Stu is underweight and is being carefully monitored for food intake, and has a small mass on his chest that needs care. But he wags his tail at everyone caring for him, and gave me kisses as we went for a short walk. He may be housetrained, taking the opportunity to use the facilities as soon as we were out the door, and even stepped off the curb to take care of his ‘big business’. He’s such a sweetheart, walking carefully on leash, posing for photos, not minding being tethered, and taking treats so gently as hungry as he must be. Clearly a bit weak, every once in a while he stumbles as we walk slowly, and as he builds up strength with nutritious food, he’ll do better. His big, gentle eyes make soft contact and remind me of the artist Keane’s paintings from back in the 70’s. He’s just a love who has already converted staff into fans based on the number of shout-outs he got when we came back inside. They don’t come nicer than sweet Stu who needs his own special hero to take him home for a lifetime of good care and love.
