04/24/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/24/16 17:41 Stephanie is a four year old American Pitbull lab mix who was surrendered by her owner due to owner no longer having time to care for her. She is described as mellow, sweet and affectionate. She was with her owner since she was a puppy. Stephanie has lived with four adults and two children ages seven and twelve. Around strangers she is shy for the first few minutes but warms up quickly. Around the children she is relaxed and playful and owner stated she engages in exuberant play with the children. She lived with two other pitbulls in the home and is described as affectionate and relaxed around the other dogs. She has never been around cats. Stephanie is housebroken and never has accidents in the home, she is walked twice a day and her previous home had a yard. She is not bothered when her food is touched while eating ot when a treat is taken away. She tolerates bathing and when a stranger approaches her home she will bark but greet them with a wagging tail and loose body. She eats wet and dry food Blue Diamond brand and is free fed. Upon intake Stephanie was calm and relaxed towards counselor. She allowed all handling counselor was able to collar, scan (negative) and photograph.
04/29/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Stephanie doesn’t look quite like the other dogs: her head tilts a little and her eyes look like they aren’t quite positioned right. She can be a little shy and timid (maybe more so now that she’s away from the family she’s known since a puppy), but what a doll! She’ll cautiously approach staff members we encounter to say “hi’ and then lick their hands. She’s very easy to walk, takes treats nicely and seems housebroken. She previously lived with two other large dogs (she was affectionate with them) and a 7 and 12 year old (she loved to play with them!). When I pet her she puts the entire weight of her head into my hands. Her looks make it hard not to fall for her, but Stephanie’s sweet, sweet disposition make it impossible not to fall in love. Please come meet her at Brooklyn ACC!
04/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Stephanie previously lived with 4 adults and 2 children ages 7 and 12 years old. The owner stated Stephanie is relaxed and playful around the children; she also lived with two other pit bulls in the home and is described as affectionate and relaxed around them. The owner mentioned Stephanie is housebroken and described her as mellow, sweet and affectionate. At intake it reported Stephanie was calm and relaxed, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Stephanie came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Stephanie was fearful with her body low during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Stephanie was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to Stephanie medical condition she can be sensitive around her face, and showing in response she was calm but a bit cautious. She previously lived with children and does well with them, so the behaviors department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no young children and we recommend calm older children around her. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1:3. Dog closes mouth, becomes tense Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Flank squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Stephanie is nervous and wanders the pen with a low body and tucked tail. She allows the greeter dog to sniff her.
04/27/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
