08/21/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/21/17 15:01 Basic information: Star is a 13 year old female mix. She does have arthritis but no other health issues or injuries, and has not seen a vet in the last three years. Socialization: When strangers approach the owners house Star will bark to alert that someone is approaching, but once they are inside she will stop. She likes attention and always wants to be pet by whoever is in the home. She has spent time with young children and is very tolerant around them. She has also spent time with other dogs, and reportedly gets along well with males but is territorial with females. She is gentle around cats as well. Behavior: Star is a low key dog, older in age she does not play often and sleeps most of the day. When she does play she likes tug of war. She is house trained to go outside, but if a wee wee pad is put down inside she will go on there as well. Star enjoys being bathed and brushed, and allowed her owner to clip her nails. She is not scared by loud noises, nor does she have any resource guarding behavior or bite history with humans. When the owner first found star as a stray and took her in, there was an incident where she bit another female dog but has not done so since then. For a New Family to know: Star eats dry food and wet food as a treat. She knows the commands sit, come, down, and stay. Star walks well on the leash and does not pull, she also behaves well when off leash at the park. Star is not crate trained. She is relaxed when left alone in the house and is well behaved in the yard. Admissions intake behavior: Star had a stiff body with counselor and was barking after the owner left the room. She was displaying whale eyes and would not allow for collaring.
08/27/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Star emanates rays of charm and sweetness with every step of her waddling gait! She is an older lady and might spend more time snoozin’ than the other dogs, but she’s still full of sassy sweetness and I see nothing but love when I look at that little gremlin face of hers! Her former owner tells us she’s very tolerant of young children, gentle around cats, prefers male dogs to females, and is just a lovely, low key lady. She’s reported to be housebroken (but at her age might not be able to hold it as long as she used to!), well behaved when left alone, and enjoys her spa days. She has been super easy to walk on leash, shakes her big booty when I talk to her, and loooves treats (and isn’t shy about asking for more!). I imagine her sleepily wagging her tail on the couch while her doting (how could you not be?) person serenades her with “Honey you are my shining star”. Come meet her at Brooklyn ACC and make everything right in her world, and brighter in yours!
