Previously lived with:: 2 Adults
How is this dog around strangers?: Around strangers Star is shy for a few days and would stay in his favorite spot whenever someone came to the home
How is this dog around children?: Owner did not have any children in the home but when the owners grandchildren ages 8 and 9 would come to the home, Star was tolerant during play time but would usually keep to himself.
How is this dog around other dogs?: Owner did not have any other pets in the home but whenever a family member would come to the home with a male small breed dog, Star was respectful and tolerant.
How is this dog around cats?: Owner did not have any cats in the home so behavior is unknown
Resource guarding:: Star will bark when someone tries to take away his food, treats or toys
Bite history:: Star does not have a bite history
Housetrained:: Partially
Energy level/descriptors:: Medium
Other Notes:: Star will bark when his food, treats and toys are taken away and when someone approaches the owner’s home. When someone tries to restrain Star or disturb him while sleeping, he will growl. He is not bothered when someone pushes his off furniture, being given a bath or having his nails trimmed.
For a New Family to Know: Star is described as affectionate with the owners, mellow and independent. He has a medium activity level and likes to play with balls, stuffed animals and squeaky toys. In the home, Star liked to stay in his favorite spot. He was kept mostly indoors and is partially house trained. Owner stated that they would let Star go potty indoors and not walk him much outside. When he is walked outside consistently, he will not go potty indoors. In the home, Star was fed mostly carrots and celery. When left alone in the home, Star would go potty indoors. Star knows the cues come and stay. For exercise, Star was taken on slow walks on the leash. When on leash, he tends to pull lightly on the leash. Owner was able to walk Star off leash and stated that Star would wander at first but come back when his name was called.
