I am a male white and br brindle bull terrier mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/18/2016 from NY 11232, owner surrender reason stated was CHILDCONFL.

08/18/16 21:16 Spot is a year old Bull Terrier. He was given to owner by a friend and has been in owner care since 2 months. Spot is being surrendered into the center due to biting child in home. There are no known health injuries or concerns. Around strangers Spot is shy for days, he lived with an 8 year old and is relaxed and playful. With adults and children he is exuberant and somewhat rough. There is no experience with other dogs or cats. He was attacked by another dog when he was 8 months. He has bitten a person and skin was punctured on 8/17/18 and report was made on 8/18/16. At times Spot can bark too much. During storms or fireworks he is nervous and terrified. He isn’t bothered when his food bowl is being touch or when treats, objects or toys are being taken away. When being held or restrained he isn’t bothered and is friendly when disturbed while sleeping. When getting a bath or coat is being brushed he isn’t bothered. When nails are being trimmed she is afraid. When unfamiliar people approach you or the home he will bark and growl. Spot is described as being friendly, affectionate playful and anxious with a very high activity level. He likes hugs and being touched. When home he will follow you around or play with his toy balls or chews. Mostly indoors he slept on his bed and ate both wet and dry Beneful at least two times a day. His favorite treats are Milkbones or house food. He is house trained and rarely has accidents in the home. Usually he will potty on grass or cement. When left alone in the home he is well behaved. He is crate trained and can do well for 3 hours. Spot knows such commands as “sit “”come” paw ” and “give me five”. For exercise he goes on leash walks or running. On leash he pulls lightly off leash he will run away.

At intake it was reported Spot was fearful and had a muzzle on, he did allow all handling. During SAFER Spot came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor with a slow approach. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Spot was distracted during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Spot was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to the previous bite incident, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft but a bit distracted. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body soft ears relaxed, and lip neutral.

According to Spot’s previous owner, Spot was attacked by another dog when he was 8 months old. 9/3: When off leash with a female greeter dog at the Care Center, Spot greets her displaying soft body language and a low, wagging tail. He is slightly sexually motivated but is able to listen to handler interruptions and explores the pen.
