02/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Spike Lee came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Spike Lee was calm and relaxed, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Spike Lee came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Spike Lee was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Spike Lee was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Spike Lee appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Spike Lee greets the other dog with a soft, loose body. He does not solicit or engage in play however he does persistently attempt to mount the female helper dog. Spike Lee will respond to human interrupters.

When off leash with other dogs, Spike Lee greets the other dog with a soft, loose body. He does not solicit or engage in play however he does persistently attempt to mount the female helper dog. Spike Lee will respond to human interrupters. 2/25 update: Spike Lee interacts wtih a soft, wiggly body. He becomes a little sexually motivated but responds immediately to the other dog’s corrections.
