I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 08/16/2016 from NY 10301, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

08/17/16 18:56 Animal’s appearance – Speedy is clean and of average weight. Speedy had crust in his eyes. Animal’s demeanor with you – Speedy allowed all handling such as being scanned for a microchip and collar. Picture was not taken during intake. Client was walking on the street and found Speedy wandering. Client approached Speedy and was able to pet him and so client took him home about 2 days ago. Client realized he does not want to keep Speedy because he does not want to responsibility of caring for him.

Speedy came into our center after a member of the public found him as a stray. He was friendly and allowed all handling during intake and during his initial medical exam. Speedy allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands during Look item, relaxed. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, open mouth. Speedy followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, settled easily at end. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Speedy showed no interest in Toy. He approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, tail at spine level, relaxed. Behaviorally, Speedy would do well with an Average adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture, mouth open Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, settles easily at end. Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
