08/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sony’s previous owner describes her as friendly, with a high activity level and outgoing. She lived with adults and children (ages 12-16) and played gently with them all. Sony’s previous owner reported that she is not fully housetrained and will urinate and defecate indoor, she also destroys items in the house, barks and whines when left alone. While here at the Care Center, Sony has shown social and appropriate behaviors towards humans however during her playgroup sessions she becomes extremely hyper-motivated and appears to have been deprived of proper dog-dog socialization throughout her puppyhood. She pulls at the leash while barking and will not break her focus on the other dog. When off leash, she is unable to decrease her arousal level, persistently chasing, body slamming and mouthing the other dog and does not respond to corrections from other dogs or interruptions from handlers to slow her down. Also, Sony has shown mild food guarding behavior- freezing and growling. Due to the range of behaviors we have seen, we feel that Sony is only suitable for experienced adopters with no young children who are prepared to manage her separation anxiety, housetraining, food guarding and who will safely supervise and manage her behavior around other dogs. We highly recommend that a new adopter seek the professional guidance of a certified trainer or behaviorist in order to provide Sony with positive and appropriate behavior modification and training strategies.
08/03/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
According to Sony’s previous owner, with other dogs she is exuberant. 8/3: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Sony is hyper-motivated to meet the other dog. She pulls at the leash and begins barking. She will not break her focus on the other dog and she is unable to decrease her arousal level. She is allowed to meet the other dog while a handler holds her leash and attempts to engage in high energy, mouthy play. She is persistant and unable to relax throughout the session. 8/4: Sony displays the same hyper-motivated behavior and a muzzle is placed on her before she is allowed into the pen. Once in the pen, Sony is unable to decrease her arousal level, persistently chasing, body slamming and mouthing the other dog and does not respond to corrections from other dogs or interruptions from handlers to slow her down.
