I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 07/14/2016 from NY 10032, owner surrender reason stated was OWNER SICK. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-065626.

07/14/16 21:14 Basic information: Snowey is a 2 year old female American pit bull terrier. She was given to her previous owner as a gift when she was a puppy. She was surrendered because her previous owner can no longer care for her. She has no injuries or health problems and the last time she went to the vet was 1 year ago. Socialization: Around strangers Snowey is friendly and outgoing and when she played with adults he was exuberant. She lived with children ages 2 to 8 years and with them she was relaxed and playful and exuberant at play. She lived with another pit bull and with him she was relaxed and playful and exuberant at play. Behavior: Snowey has never attempted to bite a person or animal. She isn’t bothered by storms or fireworks. If her food bowl was touched while eating she stop eating a had a relaxed body. She was playful if a treat or toy was taken from her. She is friendly if he is restrained. She isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping. She enjoys baths. She is friendly if an unfamiliar person approached her home or previous owner. For a New Family to Know: Snowey is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and pushy. She has a low activity level. The thing her previous owner liked most about her were; shes friendly. When her previous owner was home he would tend to follow her around. She likes to play with chew toys. She was kept indoors only and at night she slept on the floor. She ate dry taste of the wild. She is house trained to use the bathroom in one spot of the home but she also uses the bathroom outside. She is well behaved when left alone indoors. She knows the cue; sit in both Spanish and English. She was taken on brisk walks once a day. Behavior during intake: Snowey had a wiggly body and wagging tail. She allowed me to pet her and collar her and showed no signs of aggression.

Snowey was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling and charging trough the kennel. Snowey had a fearful and hunched body language, tucked tail; he wrinkles his muzzle to expose his front teeth and preparing to lunge forward. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Snowey is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time Snowey was surrender to us. According to his previous owner he is friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and pushy. She has a low activity level. Around strangers Snowey is friendly and outgoing and when she played with adults he was exuberant. She lived with children ages 2 to 8 years and with them she was relaxed and playful and exuberant at play. She lived with another pit bull and with him she was relaxed and playful and exuberant at play. Playgroup Notes: Snowey is interested in greeting and continually approaches. She appears most interested in greeting and socializing with the female helper dog.

Snowey has appeared interested in socialaizing with other dogs as of her most recent interaction, however may do best if given time to decompress as the only resident dog in a home, due to observed leves of stress in a new environment. 7/16: When off leash with other dogs Snowey is nervous and avoidant. She crouches down when sniffed and then will relax again when the helper dog walks away. 7/17: Snowey is interested in greeting and continually approaches. She appears most interested in greeting and socializing with the female helper dog.
