Pain and extreme distress when mid thoracic vertebrae palpated. delayed proprioception on rear legs but can stand. kyphosis and dorsoflexed neck at rest. Subjective: Observed Behavior – docile until back touched then gestured to bite repeatedly Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – y Objective P = 200 R = wnl BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: mod tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: female intact. vulva wet with urine but anal tone present, so continence is assumed MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – IVDD pain signs, prop. defects Assessment: IVDD Plan: cage rest x 1 month, gave 0.9ml rimadyl (22mg) Prognosis: good/fair for full recovery SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to ivdd
