BEHAVIOR:
Snork walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. Snork was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Snork was uncomfortable with handling, she freezes and raised her lips with a stiff body language. The behavior department used the Flank squeeze instead and she didn’t respond to the touch. Snork was not interested in toys.
The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick.
Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor.
Squeeze 1: 5. Dog freezes, raised lips
Flank squeeze 1. Dog does not respond at all.
Flank squeeze 2. Dog does not respond at all.
Toy 1. No interest.
Playgroup Notes:
When off leash with other dogs, Snork is initially nervous upon entering the pens, then eventually begins to wander and ignore interaction.
