07/14/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Gym, tan, laundry…what else did you have to do today? Ah, that’s right. Meet Snooki! A 39-pound Oreo with personality for days and a smile that just won’t quit, 2 year-old Snooki is just who you’ll want trotting at your side on the boardwalk, at the beach, and especially at the t-shirt shop. But first things first. The moment I spot little Snooki resting calmly in her kennel, all I can say is, “J-WOW…is she gorgeous.” Our little peanut is easily leashed and practically skips down the stairs as we head out for fresh air, green grass, and plenty of summer sun. Snooki walks well on leash, tends to her business straight away, and once free in a pen, begins to quietly explore, sniffing every corner. All is peaceful and right with the world. Snooki poses for a few photos, effortlessly photogenic and adorable (I can see her Instagram now), and after taking a few treats gently from my hand, looks up at me saying, “Now what?” It’s then that I produce a squeaky toy, and let me tell you: Snooki plus squeaky toy? We’ve got a situation. She immediately bursts to life, and if you thought her smile couldn’t get any bigger before, go ahead and admit it, you were wrong. Her little black and white body positively vibrates as she waits for me to throw her new favorite thing, and suddenly she becomes 10 feet tall with legs a mile long as she leaps and dives to catch it. And while it wasn’t exactly “fetch” at first (she would sometimes forget to return it), by the end of our time together she had the game down like a pro. Brains, beauty, ball? (You’ll need to provide that last one.) Nope, it just doesn’t get any better than that. So grab your suntan lotion, pack the car to the hilt for a weekend at the shore, and then come grab Snooki. The laundry can wait. Snooki is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan ACC.
