02/24/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/24/16 19:45 BASIC INFO Sniper is a 9 year old neutered Jack Russell Terrier / Beagle mix. His family adopted him from a rescue when he was 11 months old and surrendered him due to lack of time. He has sensitive ears and teeth and is losing vision. SOCIALIZATION Sniper is friendly with new people. He lived with many children of all ages throughout his life. He’s relaxed, playful, and tolerant with them and especially attentive to a disable child in his family. He plays gently with people. At the dog park, he visits people. He walks away from other dogs who initiate play and will bark and growl if they follow/continue. He lived with a large male dog who initiates rough play with him. He’s respectful of him but barks and growls when he plays too rough. He also snaps when he tries to eat his food. Sniper hasn’t bit any people/animals. BEHAVIOR Sniper doesn’t mind storms. He’s friendly with new people who approach his home/family. He doesn’t mind when someone takes his toy, moves him off furniture, brushes him, holds restrains him, or wakes him up. He struggles when picked up. He’s nervous during baths. He growls when someone takes his food or treat. He tries to bite during nail trims. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Sniper’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, and medium energy. He followed his family around. He played chase and likes balls and squeaky toys. He lived inside and slept on a dog bed. He ate dry Blue Buffalo food and enjoyed peanut butter, chicken, soft Milkbones, bacon treats, and Greenies. He’s housetrained, doesn’t have accidents, and potties anywhere outside in addition to on wee-wee pads. He’s well-behave while left alone. He sits when asked and understands English and Spanish. He brings someone his bowl when he’s hungry and his leash when he wants to go for a walk. He goes for slow walks, infrequently lately, and doesn’t pull on his leash. Off-leash, he walks with his family. INTAKE Sniper had a soft body while I pet him and while he sniffed me. He was tense and licked his lips while I scanned (+) and collared him. He sat when asked and took treats gently. He walked on his leash with me without pulling. He barked and pawed at the door after his family left.
