: Shy, A&R dog.
O: Neuro: Shy, A&R dog. MS: Amb x 4. GU: spayed female dog. GI: soft, non-painful abdomen upon palpation. Cardiopulmonary: NSF upon auscultation of cardica valve areas or lung fields. Integ: Approximately 2 cm firm mass caudolateral to L T13 and near T-L junction; this area is clipped and alcohol is topically applied prior to centesis: no material is aspirated. Approximately 2.5 cm bruise noted in periumbilical area. EENT: nervous about oral exam, so limited view of teeth (some dental tartar).
A: R/O cyst vs mass of undetermined character. Periumbilical bruise: R/O minor trauma.
P: observe mass for character change, while in shelter.
GROUP BEHAVIOR:
When off leash with other dogs, Snickers appeared very fearful and very uncomfortable. She avoids any interactions and attempts to exit. She does not appear to benefit from being off leash with other dogs.
SAFER – EXPERIENCED HOME
Snickers came into our center as an owner surrender. Owner reports Snickers is initially shy around strangers but once warmed up she is gentle. Owner reports Snickers did not live with any children but played gentle with any she interacted with. It is reported she may chase cats. Owner states Snickers is not bothered by having her Food, Toys, Treats taken away. It is reported Snickers is house trained and well behaved when left alone in the home. She is described as affectionate, playful, shy, fearful, and anxious. Snickers pulled hard on leash for her relief walk. She pulled out of assessor’s hands on all three Look attempts. Snickers stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, open mouth. She was focused on an exit during Tag game. Snickers did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts. She showed no interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports she likes to play with any type of toy, though will destroy it. When off leash with other dogs, Snickers appeared very fearful and very uncomfortable. She avoids any interactions and attempts to exit. She does not appear to benefit from being off leash with other dogs. The Behavior Team feels Snickers would do best with an Experienced adopter. She may initially benefit from a slow approach/slow introduction and going home to a calm, quiet, structured environment so she can relax and warm up at her own pace. Snickers may benefit from being the only resident dog.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture, mouth open
Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly tries to exit.
Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed
Toy 1. No interest.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Snickers appeared very fearful and very uncomfortable. She avoids any interactions and attempts to exit. She does not appear to benefit from being off leash with other dogs.
PROFILE
Socialization: According to the owner, Snickers is shy around strangers at first but once she warms up she is gentle. Owner did not have any children in the home but stated that Snickers plays gentle with children she interacted with. Snickers is fearful around other dogs and will not play with them. When it comes to cats, Snickers likes to go after them. Snickers has never bit another animal or person.
Behavior: Snickers is not bothered by having her food, treats or toys taken away, being pushed off furniture or being disturbed while she is sleeping. She is scared of being given a bath or having her nails trimmed. When it comes to unfamiliar people approaching previous owners house or yard, Snickers was scared.
For a New Family to Know: Snickers is described as affectionate, playful, shy, excitable, independent, fearful and anxious with a low to medium activity level. She likes to play with any type of toy but will destroy it. When in the home, Snickers likes to follow owner around the house, be in the same room as the owner or stay in her favorite spot. Snickers is house trained and owner stated only had an accident when she had a UTI. When left alone in the house, Snickers is well behaved. She was never crate trained therefore behavior is unknown. Snickers knows the commands sit, and come. Owners fed her dry food only- brand Pedigree adult. On the leash, Snickers can pull very hard. Owner has never tried to take her outside off leash as she was worried that Snickers would just run away.

I am a spayed female, brown and white German Shepherd Dog and Boxer. The shelter staff thinks I am about 1 year and 7 months old. I weigh 56 pounds.
I have been at the shelter since June 12, 2011.
Staff wrote: “Snickers was adopted and brought back almost a year later because of pet conflict. She is GREAT with other dogs however; DOES NOT LIKE CATS AT ALL. She is on the thin side and needs to put some weight on. We are feeding her extra here.”
