KNOWN HISTORY: Unknown [Unaltered, stray] Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: [10-7-16] Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits. Summary: Skyy was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling. Once he was removed from his kennel he was stiff and did not show social behavior. Skyy doesn’t allow to be collar he wrinkles his muzzle to expose his front teeth. Due to these clear distance-increasing behaviors, the handling items were not completed. PLAYGROUP: When off leash with a spayed female Skyy is uncomfortable, holding her tail tucked, briefly sniffing then walking away. Over time she relaxes, and casually explores the yard. She arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends slow introductions if placing Skyy into a home with other dogs. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: [10-6-16] During his initial medical examination, Skyy was tense. He growled and snapped during the examination. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_Place with a New Hope partner: Due to the behaviors seen in the care center in addition to our lack of information about Skyy’s behavior in his previous home, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide guidance and force-free behavior modification for any behavior challenges before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Skyy has demonstrated a willingness to escalate when uncomfortable.
