04/02/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/02/17 16:18 Skyla is friendly and outgoing around strangers. She’s never spent time around children but plays both gently and exuberantly with adults. She’s spent time around her owner’s girlfriend’s Husky and other dogs on the street and plays exuberantly with them. Skyla has never spent time around cats so it’s unknown how she would react around them. She’s never bitten another animal or human. During loud noises such as thunderstorms Skyla isn’t bothered and goes about her normal business. She isn’t bothered when her food bowl or bones are taken away and thinks her owner is trying to play when it’s a toy being taken away. When her owner pulls her off of furniture she just gets down. She listens when her owner says “no” if having to be restrained from something she wants. When awoken from her slumber, Skyla gets up and wants affection. She tolerates baths and getting her nails clipped but enjoys being brushed. She’s friendly when people approach her home or humans. Skyla is friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, and exuberant. She has a medium activity level and when she’s ready to play enjoys fetch with balls (but won’t always bring back), chase, wrestle, tug, and chewing on bones. Her owner loves how relaxed and affectionate she is. When her owner is home, Skyla follows him around and then hangs in the same room or in her favorite spot on the kitchen floor. She’s been kept mostly indoors and sleeps in her owner’s room next to his bed. She’s very house-trained and will only pee inside if she hasn’t been taken out all day and then gets overly excited about seeing someone she hasn’t seen in a while. When she’s outside, she goes potty wherever she can pick up a scent. When left home-alone, Skyla is well-behaved and was crate-trained but doesn’t need it now. She knows sit, come, lay, and stay. For exercise, she enjoys slow or brisk walks on-leash and off-leash dog parks. She pulls lightly when something excites her. On intake, Skyla allowed counselor to pet her head and back. She sat nicely when asked and allowed counselor to collar and leash her. She sat nicely for pictures.

04/04/2017 WEB MEMO

A volunteer writes: I do not like fur coats but when I see Skyla’s, I can help myself to want to own …her… Beauty is good to have of course but a great temperament  is really what’s most important ! Skyla owns both ! She is gorgeous , well cared for but also a good dog, sociable and so loving.  She waits calmly in her kennel, is leashed in no time, walks like a dream, does her business on the way and meets placidly other dogs, big and small in the street. She is no pigeon chaser or prey driven like so many Huskies.  Free in a pen, I love the way she sits by me and puts her head under my arm for hugs. She feels so soft, she is so gentle…She is a dream dog. I could go on and on about Skyla. She is a well deserving dog, one who will give her new owner a lot of joy and warmth. Come and meet her at once at the Manhattan Care Center. Skyla needs you tonight!!
