Sky
Hello, my name is Sky. My animal id is #9245. I am a female dog a The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 09-Oct-2017.
Sky is at risk due to CIRDC.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
A volunteer writes: We women like to have a signature ‘look’, and Miss Sky has one, too. In addition to the cutest bunny ears on the planet, the itty bitty tip of her tongue can usually be found peeking out of her mouth. So cute, and I want to kiss it! Ready for a walk and a chance to go potty, Sky peed enough to raise the East River by 5 inches, so I’d guess she’s housetrained. Petite with a perfect figure all wrapped up in her clean and well groomed coco coat, she sits for treats, takes them gently and then every time my hand went near my bag she sat again. Smart girl figured out quickly where my treat stash is. On the bench keeping me company as I take some notes, Sky gives me delicious kisses, wags her tail softly, and we sit like old friends holding hands/paws. A staff person she knows came outside, and Sky ran around showing her enthusiasm for seeing a buddy. An absolute delight with good manners, a fun and loving personality, Sky cordially invites you to stop by and meet her today.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: EXPERIENCE (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the behaviors outlined below)
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
Recommendations:: No young children (under 5)
Recommendations comments:: No young children: Due to jumpy and mouthy behavior displayed in the care center, we recommend a home without young children.
Potential challenges: : Basic manners/poor impulse control
Potential challenges comments:: Basic manners/poor impulse control: It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute any frustration and teach her to control her impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training only is recommended. Mouthiness/poor bite inhibition: Sky has shown some mouthiness in the care center. Little pressure is applied, but this is a behavior that should be extinguished through training alternate behaviors and lack of reward (ex. walking away whenever Sky’s teeth make contact with skin).
