Basic Information:
Sir Zeus is an American Pit Bull Terrier and is 1 year and 2 months old. His previous owner got him as a gift when he was a puppy. He was surrendered because his previous owner isn’t allowed to have pets in his apartment. He has no known injuries or health problems and the last time he went to the vet was when he was 2 months old.
Socialization:
Around adults Zeus is friendly and outgoing and when he plays he is exuberant. Zeus lived with a 3 year old child and with him he was friendly and outgoing and when he played he was gentle. He spent time with other dogs and with them he was relzed and playful and exuberant at play.
Behavior:
Sir Zeus has never attempted to bite a person or animal. He also isnt bothered by storms or fireworks. If his food bowl was touched while eating he will stop eating. He also didnt eat until he was told to “go get it”. He was friendly if his treat was touched and playful if his toy was touched. He was trained not to go on furniture. He is also friendly when given a bath. He isnt bothered if his nails are trimmed. He is friendly when his coat is brushed, if he is held, if an unfamiliar person approached his previous home or owner. He isnt bothered if he his disturbed while sleeping.
For a New Family to Know:
Sir Zeus is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, pushy, and excitable. He has a high activity level. The two things his previous owner liked most about him were; he’s high energy and friendly. When his previous owner was home he would tend to follow them around. He liked to play with chew toys and his favorite game is tug. He was kept indoors only and slept in a crate. He ate both wet and dry Pedigree. He is house trained but rarely had accidents. He is well behaved when left alone in the home. He had a crate made of plastic and is ok for up to two hours. He knows sit and no. For exercise he went on brisk walks or to off leash dog parks 2 times a day. On leash he pulls lightly.
Behavior during intake:
Zeus allowed me to pet him, collar him, and take pictures. He had a wagging tail and wiggly body. He showed no signs of aggression.
Behavior memo: 03/14/16 20:18
While Zeus was playing with a toy he did a low growl with a wagging tail and wiggly body and approached whoever was playing with him. The growl was not aggressive in any way. However it is intimidating when you first hear it. His owner did mention he does this when he’s excited to play.
