03/25/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: For those of us of a certain age, the name Sinbad evokes wonderful stories of adventure, exploration, and good deeds, so it was with great anticipation that I met our Sinbad. Our compact four legged little dude wagged his tail watching me unlatch his kennel and then leapt into my arms from his upper kennel. Taking care of his business the moment we were out the door shows off his likely housetraining skills, and we wag, wag, wag our way to the park. His leash manners are lovely, and when he pulls slightly its only to investigate something new in our path. Dogs of all shapes and sizes were out the in park and it was clear Sinbad wanted to play with all: a Yorkie, a large male Pitbull, and an even bigger Doberman Pinscher. Sinbad seems to be an equal opportunity player – any shape, size or gender is a potential playmate! Off leash in the backyard he happily played with a ball, enjoyed some treats which he can catch on the fly (impressive!) and rolled into my lap for some snuggle time. Having aced his behavior assessment Sinbad is ready to start an adventure of his own…..a new home and family to love. Ask to meet our intrepid little fellow today; he’ll steal your heart for sure!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sinbad walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Sinbad was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Sinbad was not interested in toys but was easy to handle when chewing on rawhides. He approaches the helper dog with his tail at spine level, ears relaxed, body not stiff.
