04/11/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/11/16 19:33 Basic information: Simba is a 10 year old American Pit bull Terrier. He was adopted from ACC 10 years ago as a puppy. He was returned because his previous owners living situation changed and he could no longer keep Simba. He has no known injuries and the last time he went to the vet was 8 months ago. Socialization: Around strangers Simba is very playful and friendly. When he plays he is very exuberant. Around other children ages 2-13 Simba is relaxed and playful but somewhat rough at play. He has not been around other dogs or cats. Behavior: Simba has never attempted to bite a person or animal. When he hears storms, fireworks or loud noises he becomes curious and barks a few times. If his previous owner attempted to touch his food bowl while he was eating, Simba would continue to eat and had a relaxed body. He was playful if his previous owner attempted to take a treat or toy from him. He’s taught not to go on furniture. He’s friendly if he’s held or restrained. He isn’t bothered if he is disturbed while sleeping, given a bath, if his coat is brushed or if his nails are trimmed. He is friendly if an unfamiliar person approached his previous home or owner. For a New Family to Know: Simba is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable and independent. He has a very high activity level. The two things his previous owner liked most about him were; he listens very well and he’s a great companion. When his previous owner was home Simba would tend to follow him around. He liked playing with balls and Frisbee’s and his favorite games are fetch and tug. He was kept indoors only and at night he slept on his dog bed. He ate white rice, and cooked meat with dry all natural dog food. He is house trained and never had accidents indoors. He alerted his owner by crying if he had to use the bathroom. He is well behaved when left alone indoors. He knows sit, come, no more, and stop in Spanish. For exercise he went running for an hour each morning and he was walked twice a day. On leash he pulls hard until corrected, and then he doesn’t pull. Behavior during intake: Simba sat on command; he rolled over for belly rubs and had a very wiggly body and wagging tail. He allowed me to pet him and collar him. While trying to restrain him he did turn his head in an attempt to bite but didn’t actually bite.
04/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Fantastic looking and with great energy, don’t tell Simba he’s considered a senior as he’ll never believe you! (I’m not sure even I believe it!) Adopted from us as a puppy and recently returned due to a change in living circumstances, Simba comes with a glowing resume and it’s clear he lived the life of a cherished companion. He’s described as “playful and friendly”, has been around children ages 2-13 and was relaxed and playful, doesn’t guard his ‘stuff’, has been taught not to go on furniture, is friendly to strangers, likes playing with balls and a Frisbee and his favorite games are fetch and tug. He slept on his dog bed at night, is housetrained, pulls hard on the leash until corrected, and knows ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘stop’ and ‘no more’ in Spanish. Simba posed like the gentleman he is for some photos, enjoyed treats which he took gently, and showed off his sit when I asked him to. He loves a good hug, smiles for a nice kiss, sits for a treat and in general is so sweet and kind you just want to hug him and tell him that he will indeed spend his golden years on a comfy bed surrounded by people who love him. He’s an awesome dog who has won the hearts of all who’ve met him…..yours will be next, I guarantee it. To see video, copy and paste the following link into your browser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
