07/01/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
7/1/16 1:09pm BASIC INFORMATION Shem appears to be a Papillion/Chihuahua mix and we are unaware of how old he is. He is said to be blind in his left eye as the most recent owner found him like that. SOCIALIZATION Shem has lived with two adults and one child, 11 years old. Shem has also lived with one large shepherd mix. Shem would not play with the large dog; Shem would hard bark but the large dog would always walk away, therefore, interaction was minimal. Shem would gentley play with adults and with the 11 year old he lived with. Shem is reported to not be fond of men, particularly wearing baseball caps; however, with other people, he is social and friendly. Shem has not lived with cats but has interacted with a cat of a family member – he does not seem to be phased by the cat, however, the cat would not interact much by running into another room or area of the home. BEHAVIOR Shem plays gentley and is described as a respectful and relaxed dog. He thoroughly enjoys playing with stuffed toys and is usually a quiet dog. The only time he barks is if he hears a noise as if someone was coming into the home. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Shem was fed Beneful dry dog food only. He knows sit and alwats eliminates outside. If he has any accidents, it’s only when he is not let outside over a prolonged period of time. Shem really loves belly rubs!
07/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Shem is a fluffy cutie pie!!!! Shem is eager to come out of his kennel and barely gave me enough time to leash him. Once out of the kennel, he headed for the door. Shem had a ball exploring the backyard and even rolled around in the grass. Shem was friendly with me. Shem needs a forever home. If you’re interested in adopting him, please come to the Care Center and meet him.
07/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shem came into our center on 7/1/2016. It is reported he lived with an 11 year old child and a large dog, would play gently with the child, hard bark and not interact much with the large dog. Owner states Shem is not fond of men, particularly wearing baseball caps; however, with other people, he is reportedly social and friendly. Shem has not lived with cats but has interacted with a cat of a family member, the cat would not interact much by running into another room or area of the home. Shem is reportedly housebroken to use the bathroom outside, knows the cue sit. Shem was friendly and allowed all handling during his initial medical exam. He jumped up during Look item. Shem accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, mouth open. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, settled easily at end of game. Shem did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He showed no interest in Toy, more interested in the assessor, though this may be due to environment as owner reports he thoroughly enjoys playing with stuffed toys. Shem approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, tail wagging, mouth open. The Behavior Team feels Shem would do well with an Average adopter. Look: 1. Dog jumps up with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture, mouth open Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1/ 2: 1.
