A volunteer writes:
Shanobi was found ( tied to a pole for 2 days) by a good samaritan  who took her in overnight before to bring her to the care center. She was friendly, got along with the 2 children of the house but was not too fond of the cat… Shanobi was scared upon arrival but a “smiley” face welcomed me at her door, tail wagging and eyes full of hope. She was leashed in no time and off we went for a little walk around the block. We met other pooches without fuss and Shanobi did her business. along the way. Free in a pen, she saluted politely her peers present in adjacent enclosures and focused on me, the provider of   treats that she very much liked.  Shanobi could sit for them and took them very delicately from my hands. She liked caresses, wagged her tail non stop and was not at all hand shy. She seemed all together happy to be out and in company. Life does not seem to have treated her too well. Although her weight is decent, her coat needs major mending and looks like black leather in many places. Shanobi appears to have seen many litters in her 4 years of existence.  I was happily surprised  spending time with Shanobi, a friendly and welcoming gal who won my heart. I am so looking forward to see her again and deeply wish that a Sharpei lover will fall in love with her and take her home. Shanobi is at the Manhattan Care Center.
