Shane
Hello, my name is Shane. My animal id is #11205. I am a male brindle dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 30-Oct-2017.
Shane is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease complex with is contagious to other dogs. Shane will likely require in home care with antibiotics. There are no known behavior concerns for Shane at this time (average determination).
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
A volunteer writes: Shane is adorable in his kennel, sitting peacefully right at his door, his lovely round face searching my eyes. A really cute and attractive guy. Shane is a good walker, pulling slightly and marking his territory. Well, he needs to be noticed by his peers, males and females. He is quite good in playgroups, happy, running and playful. Being dog friendly is really very important when one lives in the city. Free in the yard, he explores, wags his tail a lot and enjoys human company, caresses and treats. I could not really get him to sit or play ball(he can learn) but he was a calm, collected and very pleasant young man to be around. I was quite taken by his looks, healthy, well made, well dressed and that mug of his, really the most adorable. Shane is at the Manhattan Care Center. He is a really good boy and will make a swell forever best friend and companion.

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Shane so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS:: Shane consistently displays highly social behavior with his human caretakers outside of his kennel. He maintains a loose wiggly body throughout interactions and solicits attention from handlers.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: AVERAGE (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
