Long time companion Shadow who lived with children of various ages and a cat was surrendered into our care as his family could not accommodate a dog anymore. Shadow, a Russian Terrier Poodle mix or a Tibetan Terrier, is in dear need of a visit to a grooming salon. Watch him coming out of there.. He will be the talk of the town…Our veterinarians are also attending to a bad ear infection he suffers from and I must say that our furry friend is already feeling better. Shadow is a real sweetheart. He is all excited to come out of his upper kennel and is in my arms in no time. He loves to be caressed. He does not mind me combing his hair to uncover his eyes for the photo shoot. He is a very good walker and does his business with out marking. He is happy to meet people in the street , comes right away when called and sits on command. Shadow loves treats and will stands and dances on his hinds, his forelegs bent and his tongue right out.. He is really super cute. I really love Shadow and I am impatiently for our groomer to get his hands on him and reveal a masterpiece… Come and meet sweet and stinky Shadow at the Manhattan Care Center and make him yours.

When introduced off leash to dogs in the care center, Shadow wanders the yard and ignores interaction.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 4/22/17
During his initial medical exam, Shadow relaxed and playful but snapped when his ears were examined.
ENERGY LEVEL:
Shadow is an enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with behaviors outlined below)
Potential challenges:
_X_ Handling/touch sensitivity: Shadow is reported to growl and bark when being groomed or bathed, showing an uncomfortability with touch in certain areas. It is important to go slowly when grooming or bathing Shadow and to be cautious when touching him in other areas as we do not know where he may have other sensitivities. Positive reinforcement, reward based training should be used to pair touch with good things such as food rewards in order to teach Shadow to be more comfortable with this.
