02/05/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/05/16 16:14 Shadow is an 8 year old female black brindle american pitbull terrier who is being surrendered because the owner is getting sick and can no longer properly care for her. Fluffy was been with the family almost 8 years. Shadow lived with 5 adults and 3 small children as well as a small dog. Shadow was playful and affectionate with the other dog in the home. Shadow is playful and tolerant of the small children in the home. When visitors come to the home she will greet them with a wagging tail and may lick them. At one time there was a cat in the home and Shadow was playful and affectionate towards it. Shadow gets exercise on leash walks and can be slightly insistent but is responsive to guidance. When Shadow encounters other dogs on the street she may bark to ward them off but does not lunge and owner says she is responsive to guidance while this is happening. Shadow is house broken and will only have accidents inside if she misses her walk. Shadow likes a bath and has had her nails trimmed at the groomer. Shadow will guard her food with growling to ward the person off but does not do this to the owner. Shadow does not guard her toys. Shadow does not go on the bed or the couch. Loud sharp noises do not bother Shadow. Shadow likes to play fetch with ball toys. Shadow knows the commands sit and come here. When the family is home she likes to be where they are. When home alone she is well behaved. Shadow likes dry food. Upon intake Shadow was receptive to introduction and loose for all handling. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Shadow was responsive to guidance on leash and would sit for a treat.

02/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shadow previously lived with 5 adults and 3 small children as well as a small dog. The owner stated Shadow was playful, affectionate and tolerate towards the other dog and children in the home. The owner mentioned at one time there was a cat in the home and Shadow was playful and affectionate towards it. It was reported by the owner Shadow is house broken and well behaved when home alone. It was also stated by the owner Shadow will guard her food with growling to warn the person off but does not do this to the owner. At intake it was reported Shadow was friendly and loose for all handling. During SAFER Shadow came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Shadow was easily aroused with her body tense mouthing the leash and slowly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Shadow was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns with Shadow guarding her food and growling when someone comes around and becoming easily aroused mouthing the leash with tense body language. The behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog gets easily aroused, mouthing the leash with tense body language and slowly de-escalates. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Shadow greets with a soft but lowered body and raised hackles. Once she enters the pen, Shadow does not solicit or engage with the other dog but does avoid his approaches.
02/07/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Shadow greets other dogs cautiously but with a soft, loose body. At first, she may be hesitant to interact, showing raised hackles and avoidance but once another dog initiates gentle play she engages in running, chase play. Shadow appears to have had a limited amount of social experience with other dogs however if given a proper introduction and the chance to interact at her own speed, the Behavior Department feels that she could go to a home with a dog of any play style. When off leash with other dogs, Shadow greets with a soft but lowered body and raised hackles. Once she enters the pen, Shadow does not solicit or engage with the other dog but does avoid his approaches. 2/10 update: Shadow greets with a soft, wiggly body. She engages in brief bouncy, running/chase play with another female. 2/16 update: Shadow greets the helper dog with a soft, bouncy body. At first, she is hesitant to interact showing raised hackles and avoidance but once the helper dog starts to run back and forth around the pen she does follow along in chase play. 2/17 update: Shadow solicits play with gentle bows and bounces. She takes part in running/chase play with another dog.
