MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
02/02/2017 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 3 C – MAJOR CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is EXPNOCHILD, Weight 66.0 LBS.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience adult-home only (Suitable for an adopter with a previous amount of dog experience) _X_No children (under 13): Sebastian appears to easily startle and become uncomfortable with up close handling, for these reasons we advise against a home with children at this time. Potential challenges: _X_Destructive behavior: Sebastian may benefit from crate training when home alone to decrease any chewing of household items as previously reported. He should always be left with durable, long-lasting chews and other engaging toys when he is left alone, to avoid chewing of inappropriate items. Examples are Kongs and Nylabones. The environment should also be managed by keeping shoes in locations where Sebastian does not have access, so he cannot destroy any items in his new home. _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Sebastian was timid throughout the assessment and did not readily approach or maintain any proximity to the assessor. He was tolerant of handling but needed considerable coaxing to position, and did not seem to warm up to the assessor during the assessment. He was curious and would approach to sniff, but moved away whenever the assessor tried to initiate contact. Sebastian would become more noticeably uncomfortable when he felt tension on the leash.

02/03/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Sebastian is like a big round, funny-faced bear! He seemed a little unsure when I first approached his cage, but once out, it was clear that he’s just a well-cared for companion in a strange place! He has been easy to walk on leash, has been calm passing other dogs, seems to have housetraining, and just has a cool confidence about him. He wags his tail when I talk to him, when I scratch his butt, and especially when I bust out the treats! A friend of mine had a dog that she taught to do the piaffe and other horse gaits…Sebastian is meant to follow in his paw-steps. As soon as I ask him to “sit” he starts offering his paws one after the other…SUPER charming! Please come to Brooklyn ACC and make sweet Sebastian a cherished companion once again!
