08/12/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/12/16 10:49 Basic Info Sebastian was brought in because he was too high energy for owner’s lifestyle and was not getting along with previous owner’s chihuahua. He is an 8 month old husky. Socialization Sebastian is friendly towards strangers. he will approach them wagging his tail and will jump on them. He likes to be pet by adults and to play with toys with adults. He will play enthusiastically and can be rough while playing. His previous owner has children ages 6 and 10, and he would play to rough with them. Previous owner said Sebastian would corner them and jump on them too roughly. Sebastial would also growl and snap at the chihuahua in the house, and attempts to chase birds and squirrels any time they are outside. Behavior Sebasian is house trained and has not destroyed anything in his previous owner’s house. He will become anxious if left alone, barking and running around, and is very high energy which previous owner described as “hard to control” and “stubborn”. He will growl and snap if his food or treats are taken away. He enjoys playing with toys and having owner handle toys, and will tolerate being restrained or woken up while sleeping. He will act friendly towards strangers entering the house or yard, approaching them while wagging his tail and jumping. For a New Family to Know Sebasian was described as friendly, affectionate, very playful, energetic, confident, independent, pushy, and stubborn. He has a very high activity level. He has never had an accident in his previous owner’s house, and is used to taking brisk walks or runs on his leash. He will pull on his leash but will stop doing it if told to stop for a few minutes. At the ACC Sebastian approached counselor wagging his tail with his tongue out and jumped on them until he got pet. He explored the counselor’s office, sniffing around at everything and ran around. He attempted to follow his previous owner out of the office when he left and whined when the door was shut. The counselor immediately gave him a treat and he stopped whining, ignored the treat, and jumped on the counselor until he was pet. He then followed the counselor around the office and allowed for collaring. Before he was taken back to medical, the counselor attempted to pick up the treats that Sebastian had been ignoring- Sebastian snapped at them, they dropped the treat, and the dog put it in his mouth and spit it back out. After the treat was dropped he resumed acting friendly.

08/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sebastian pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Sebastian was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Sebastian showed some concerning behavior during the toy test – stiffening and growling, but did not snap at or bite the assess-a-hand. Sebastian was surrender to us because he was too high energy for owner’s lifestyle and was not getting along with previous owner’s Chihuahua. The owner states that Sebastian is friendly with strangers. He will approach them wagging his tail and will jump on them. He will play enthusiastically and can be rough while playing. His previous owner has children ages 6 and 10, and he would play too rough with them. Sebastian would also growl and snap at the Chihuahua in the house. He will growl and snap if his food or treats are taken away. During the assessment Sebastian shows some guarding issues during the toy test. He needs a significant amount of exercise, mental stimulation and training. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced adult only home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 4. Dog growls. Dog-to-dog: When Sebastian greets a female helper dog through a gate he tenses and barks then immediately walks away and will not reapproach.

08/13/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
8/13: When Sebastian greets a female helper dog through a gate he tenses and barks then immediately walks away and will not reapproach. He exhibits a similar behavior once introduced–he offers a defensive correction when his face is approached then continues to avoid/walk away from the helper dog if she attempts to interact further. His previous owner cites “Sebastian would also growl and snap at the chihuahua in the house”. The behavior team feels Sebastian would be most comfortable as the only resident dog in a home.
