Intake Type: Owner surrender; Medical Behavior: Green; Age: 11 years

Sex: Neutered Male; Weight: 6 lbs

DVM Intake Exam: Estimated age: ~11yrs. Microchip noted on Intake? No History : Owner surrender Subjective: BARH  Observed Behavior – Calm for exam, allows all handling. Objective:  P = WNL R = WNL BCS 4/9 EENT: Nuclear sclerosis, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Missing all teeth, pink mm PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic; dry cough ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Neutered MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, unkempt hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Geriatric, dental disease, coughing – R/O collapsing trachea vs other Plan: Radiographs scheduled for tomorrow. Continue to monitor while at BACC
Prognosis: Fair

BEHAVIOR:

Other Notes:  Scooby’s owner did not give profile so information is limited at this time. He is an older, tan small mixed breed male.
Date of assessment: 27-Dec-2017
Look:  1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. Allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.
Paw squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Eyes are averted and ears are relaxed or back.
Paw squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Eyes are averted and ears are relaxed or back.
Toy: 1. No interest.
Summary: Scooby allowed handling during the assessment. He was playful, and social towards the assessor.
Summary (1): Scooby was surrender as a stray so his past behavior with other dogs is unknown.

12/27: When off leash at the Care Center, Scooby greets a group of small male and female dogs with a soft posture. He mostly keeps to himself while exploring the pens.

Behavior Notes:  Scooby was relaxed during intake, he came out of the carrier with ease and allowed counselor to pick him up. He was seeking attention and seemed to enjoy being held and pet.
