07/27/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/27/16 14:52 Sasha A1082937 was found tied in front of an apartment building in the Bronx. The finder stated that his father works as a super of the building and she was found earlier this morning on 07/27/16. They waited for an owner to return but she was left outside for a few hours. Behavior during intake Sasha was very friendly and allowed all handling. She allowed to be approached and jumped up to greet us. She was scanned (-) and collared and sat nicely for her photos. She was then transferred into a kennel.
07/30/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: What time is it? It’s belly rub o’clock–that’s what time it is! So sweet and gentle, Miss Sasha was ready for a walk, taking care of her business the moment we were outside, and wagging her tail as we walked to the park. In the park, she lay down froggy style to better watch everything going on, and when I sat down next to her she rolled over for a belly rub. Must be belly rub ‘oclock!!! She’s sweet, playful, gorgeous and fun, giving me lots of kisses, wanting to meet other dogs we passed, and in group play she romped with other dogs and politely greeted those that didn’t want to play. Good girl, Sasha! The Urban Dictionary defines Sasha as a ‘warm hearted person’, and Wikipedia explains the origin of the name as a ‘helper of mankind’. They both really work with our girl who is warm, friendly, social, sweet, and affectionate. Her little tail never stops wagging, and as she can get a little mouthy when she gets excited that our behavior team suggests a person or family who is experienced and does not have young children. She sits when asked and takes treats softly. Sasha is smart, petite and ready to learn everything she needs to know with positive reinforcement–so come meet our ‘warm hearted helper of mankind’ (OK, a little poetic license) today! Every day should be belly rub day!
07/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Upon entering the SAFER room Sasha displayed social behavior towards the assessor. Sasha was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during the assessment – jumped up and mouthy (moderate). She was overexcited during handling, jumping up, grabbing at the leash, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. Sasha did a lot of jumping up, body checking and played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction. She took the toy with a soft body language and will disengage appropriately. Sasha showed a bit of concern during the tag interaction as she does have the potential for her arousal level to escalate. The behavior department feels that Sasha may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and open mouth, mouths the hand, but does not apply pressure. Or, dog licks hands while lips are long. Tag: 3. Dog responds with her tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Sasha engages in play, often moutning during. She is polite when greeting non playful dogs.
07/28/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
7/28: When off leash with other dogs, Sasha engages in play, often moutning during. She is polite when greeting non playful dogs. The behavior tema feels that Sasha may be placed into a home with another social dog. Due to arriving as a stray, it is however unknown how Sasha’s behavior around dogs will translate into a home environment.
