I am a spayed female black and white labrador retr and border collie mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 3 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 09/11/2016 from NY 11223, owner surrender reason stated was LLORDPRIVA.

09/11/16 12:30 Upon intake Sasha was fearful, her body was tense and head low. She snapped at counselor when counselor attempted to scan for a microchip. She did not allow counselor to scan or photograph. . Counselor was unable to collar due to her behavior. Basic Information: Sasha is a 1 year old black lab mix. She is described by her owner as playful, affectionate, and friendly. She was gift from a family friend and was with her family since she was two months old. She was surrendered due to her owner moving to a building that does not allow pets. Personality: Sasha has lived with six adults and a 5 year child, she is described as relaxed and playful around children. Owner stated she plays excitedly with children. She has been around 1 small dog that lives in the home as well. Sasha and the small dog play well together with no aggression shown. She is partially house trained and used wee wee pads in the home. She has been kept only indoors and has a high activity level. Behavior: Sasha will growl and snap when her food is touched while eating. Owner stated when he would put his hands near her bowl she will growl and her body will tense, she will follow her owners hands and snap if they touched her food. Owner stated she is not bothered when her toys are touched or when she is bathed. She is fearful when her paws are touched, owner did not trim her nails. When a stranger approaches her home she will bark and run to the door, once inside the home she has to be muzzled because she does nt like strangers. For a new family to know: Sasha knows the command sit. She is used to being walked twice a day. She loves chew toys and likes to play with tennis balls. When home she tends to follow her owner around the home. When left alone she well behaved; she is scared of loud sounds, owner stated she was afraid of the dryer. She eats dry food and is fed twice a day. She usually sleeps in her dog bed.

Sasha previously lived with six adults and a 5 year child. The owner stated Sasha is relaxed and playful around children. The owner mentioned Sasha lived with a small dog and they got along well with each other. It was reported by the owner Sasha is partially house trained and used wee-wee pads, has a high activity level and well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Sasha as playful, affectionate and friendly. According to the owner Sasha will growl and snap when her food bowl is touched while eating and she is also fearful when are paws are touched. At intake it was reported Sasha was fearful and tense with her head low, she snapped at the counselor when attempt to scan her, no handling was conducted due to her behavior. During SAFER Sasha came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was fearful and timid towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. During Flank squeeze Sasha head flips and runs away from the assessor. Sasha follows but is fearful and keeps her distance away from the handler during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Sasha was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner and also shown in the care center, the behavior department feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is fearful and avoids eye contact; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is between her legs, body tense with her mouth closed. Tag: 2. Follows at end of leash, fearful and keeps her distance. Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog closes mouth, becomes a bit tense. Flank squeeze 1: 3. Dog head flips while moving hip away. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: Sasha enters the pen with a tense, nervous posture and tucked tail. She does approach the helper dog without hesitation and greets appropriately but mostly avoids interacting any further. When the handler sits on the bench, Sasha does approach and seeks attention.

She avoided the other dog through out the interaction and also nervous around human handlers. Sasha may sniff the other dog briefly and is tolerant of pushy solicitation but does seem interested in play. 9/12: Sasha enters the pen with a tense, nervous posture and tucked tail. She does approach the helper dog without hesitation and greets appropriately but mostly avoids interacting any further. When the handler sits on the bench, Sasha does approach and seeks attention.

At intake it was reported Sasha was fearful with tense body language, she snapped at the counselor when removing her bag of toys, no handling was due to her behavior. During SAFER Sasha came into the assessment room fearful and timid with her tail tucked, she was not interested with the assessor, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Sasha tried to bite at the assessor on the paw squeeze item. She displayed minimal interest in the toy item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is tense and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2.
