Medical Summary Scanned negative; QAR – mildly dehydrated; F~ 16 years; Emaciated – began TID feedings, monitor daily. Eyes cloudy; Teeth worn, heavy tarter; Ears, nose, throat clear; *Unable to walk or sit for long periods. Painful at joints. Vet dx Arthritis, with hips having decreased range of motion. Deterioration of hips and spine; suspicious for underlying neoplasia, metabolic disease. Began Bup 0.81mL . Coat dirty, lightly matted. No flea dirt or parasites noted. NOSF
RE-EXAM :
pt brought into medical for vocalizing and thrashing around. vitals wnl, but pt very dysporic and crying out. admin 0.5 cc diazepam IV; splenic enlargement palpated; abd rads taken: splenomegaly confirmed, microhepatica, slighlty elongated heart. A: splenomegaly r/o underlying neoplasia versus tick borne disease; P: recc EHR v work up w bw and AUS. switch off buprenex and onto tramadol for pain mgmt.
PROFILE :
BASIC INFORMATION
Sandy is a 16 year old female German Shepard Mix, who was given to owner as a gift. She is being surrendered into our care center due to owner not having proper time to continue caring for her and moving. There are no known health injuries or concerns.
SOCIALIZATION
Around strangers she stays to herself, she doesn’t play with adults. She spent time with a 2 year old and was usually tolerant, doesn’t play with children. She lived with her son who was 7 years old; they were relaxed and playful with each other. There is no experience with other cat or dogs. There is no known history of her biting another person or animal.
BEHAVIOR
When outside alone Sandy with cry until she come back in. During fireworks or storms she isn’t bothered. You’re able to touch her food bowl while she is eating; when treats or objects are being taken away she isn’t bothered. During bath time she will stay to get cleaned. Enjoys having her coat brushed, and isn’t bothered when her nails or feet are being touched and trimmed. When unfamiliar approach you or the home he isn’t bothered.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Sandy is described as being affectionate with a low activity level. She’s unique for being a cool dog and when home she stays in her favorite spot. Sandy will do well in a single person home; she sleeps anywhere and is free fed both wet and dry food. She is housetrained and has never had any accidents in the home. Sandy was mostly left indoors, and for exercise she will run in the backyard with Drake. On the leash she doesn’t pull and when left alone in the yard she will bark.
During intake Sandy was lethargic and unable to stand up after an amount of time but allowed all handling from counselor to be scan (negative) collard and photographed.
