Sampson is seen quite frequently strolling in the street and the park. He is a very popular young man, sought by many volunteers. I guess I needed to “try” him too….To start with…He is gorgeous, champagne color, rabbit ears, seductive clear eyes, adorable pout and an athletic perfect body…Looks are not all , of course.. Let’s see more…Sampson is leashed easily. Tail is wagging and wagging. He does his business right away and as i am picking up the waste, he gives me a kiss… You are really doing good, Sampson….. You are smart and a charmer….He walks nicely on the leash, not even pulling much. He sits as ordered at the light, marks a little on the way, salutes a few dogs , big and small and does not respond when he is being barked at. In the park, Sampson poses like a real fashion model. He knows that good pictures are important and he really wants to look his best. He does not run after the pigeons, bikes or razors but he is the best squirrels chaser I have ever met. Although Sampson’s master says that he does not always listen to command, he did when i told him to stop pulling me like a kite …Sampson is with us because of housing issues. He was bought off the street at the tender age of 2 months, lived and played exuberantly with young children and …a cat and is said to be a very good, very friendly and affectionate dog although quite strong. Sampson has really lots of qualities to match his beauty. How not to fall under his spell ? Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center and make him your very own forever best friend!
PROFILE :
Basic Info:
Sampson A1090889 is a 1yr old male buff/champagne & white AMPBT mix who was bought off of someone selling puppies at 2mths old & is being surrendered due to NYCHA ban. Sampson was last seen by a veterinarian as a puppy and currently has no known health issues but did come in with”happy tail” (the tip of tail bleeding from wagging so hard/fast against objects.
Socialization:
Around strangers Sampson is very friendly/outgoing. He’s lived with young children, a cat and was gentle, exuberant, playful & somewhat rough with them (during play he doesn’t know his strength) also with the adults in the home. Sampson hasn’t lived with other dogs but has played/interacted with dogs on the street and was friendly/playful with them too. Sampson has never bitten/scratched any person or animal.
Behavior:
During storms/fireworks Sampson will bark. He isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being brushed or disturbed while sleeping/resting. Sampson hasn’t had his nails trimmed. During baths Sampson attempts to jump out the tub. If someone approaches the home/family member he’ll excitedly bark & jumps on them to greet them & play.
For A New Family to Know:
Sampson is very friendly, affectionate, very playful, confident, & excitable with a medium-high activity level. The owner likes how friendly he is. Sampson enjoys playing with ball, squeaky, rope toys and games of fetch & tug. He’s mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on a dog bed & is walked 2-3x a day where he pulls strongly on his leash. Sampson eats dry dog Pedigree food 2x a day and likes any kind of dog treats. Sampson’s known commands are “sit”, “go/go inside” & “come” that he doesn’t always listen to.
Intake Behavior:
Sampson allowed all handling. He was very wiggly and seemed to enjoy hugs/kisses and being on your lap. Sampson allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of. Sampson walked alongside me and went into his kennel on his own.
Sampson’s playgroup notes:
9/24: When off leash with a female dog Sampson engages in soft running play when solicited. He briefly attempts to mount but quickly goes back to play once solicited again.
