10/21/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I was sure Sam Spade must be the name of a superhero, but thanks to Google I now know it is that of a fictional private detective from a 1930 novel (trivia night. here I come!). Even though his namesake isn’t, this Sam Spade IS kind of like a superhero. His super powers are wiggling and cuddling! He’s a little scrawny and has the sweetest frosted face, like an older dog, but the unparalleled wiggle of a puppy. He is quiet whenever I pass by his kennel, but shakes his whole back end as he moseys his way to the front and solicits attention with eyes that could make you melt. He has been easy to handle on walks, seems housebroken, and is very into treats (still working on being consistent with “sit,” but he’s got an irresistible begging dance down pat!). As soon as I initiate affection it’s all over…he is so, so sweet! He is very gentle and wiggly as he wraps his paws around my arms, smears himself into my lap, and thoroughly licks my hands as I pet him. He is a belly rub kind of guy, and manages to ask for them with his back paws on the ground and front paws on my lap, and even flopped over for them during his initial medical exam (making him possibly the best patient ever!). Please come meet Sam Spade at Brooklyn ACC…you’ll make his day, and I think that seeing his superpowers in action will make yours!
