03/13/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Pleasantly plump…a little dumpling…this little girl has clearly been “the salt of the earth” to someone before joining us as a stray. Letting me know she needed a walk, Salt showed off her housetraining skills the moment we were out the door. She’s a sniffer of all things, meandering slowly down the street taking it all in. She’s definitely a ‘stop and smell the roses’ kind of a gal making for an enjoyable easy walk. She loves treats, taking them gently, and I became her best friend when she realized that I could be a wonderful source of snacks. Salt is a bit hand shy when I reach out to her, but her gorgeous caramel eyes meet mine as I take some pictures. I love her little poufy underlip, and from time to time she gives me a sweet smile as she tries to figure out this new place. Taking this all in “with a grain of salt”, Miss Salt is hoping that this is all very temporary and that her new person is just around the corner. We hope so too! 03/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Salt pulls a bit on the leash. She did not show any social behavior. When the behavior team tries to collar her she stands tall, hackles raised, ears back, tail tucked makes direct eye contact, corner of mouth pulled back, and was preparing to lunge forward to the handlers. The behavior team decided to place her back in her kennel. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Salt is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
03/15/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY

Salt is introduced through a barrier to a male dog. She briefly sniffs then turns away.
