Owner surrender, BAR, hydrated, friendly, calm during exam T = P = 120 R = 20 BCS 6/9 EENT: Eyes clear, evidence of chronic otitis AU (thickening of both pinnas) yeasty discharge AU, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: mild tartar, small epulis 104 PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: male castrated MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, Large firm dermal mass dorsal left flank (6 cm in diameter), not deeply attached, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed Assessment: 9 y/o male castrated golden retriever. Basic information:
Saint is a Golden retriever that is 9 years old. The owner received Saint as a gift from his son 1 year ago. Saint has been part of the family since a puppy. However the owner are surrendering Saint due having a busy schedule. Saint has no known illness.
Socialization:
Saint has lived with 2 adults in the home. He is playful and affectionate with everyone in the family. He has lived with small children ages 6months and 3 years old. Saint loves being petted by the children and lay down next to them. When strangers come over Saint loves to approach with a wagging tail and loose body. He is friendly and accepts being petted. Saint has never lived with cats. He has never lived with dogs but sometimes barks and pulls on the leash when he sees other dogs.
Behavior:
Saint has never had a bite history. He is friendly with strangers and children at home. When is not bothered when touching his food bowl while eating or removing his toys from his mouth. He is house trained and wait to be taken outside. He gets 3x a day long walks around the neighborhood. When the owners are not home he is in the bedroom and sleeps through most of the day. He enjoys bath and stands still in the tub. He has never had his nails trimmed.
For New Families to Know:
Saint is described as affectionate, friendly and mellow. He occasionally get a burst of energy to play but for the most part he likes to lounge around. He loves to chew on chew bones and chase balls. When the owners are around he follow them and lay by their feet. He likes to cuddle with the owners. He enjoys a diet of mix dry and wet food together, off any brand. Saint knows the command sit, come, and go to bed and lay down.
