I am a male br brindle pit bull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 01/25/2016 from NY 11420, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

01/25/16 14:13 Rusty is a stray dog that was found in the street. Rusty upon intake was really relaxed and friendly. Once placed inside the cage Rusty did begin to have anxiety and started to cry and howl. Rusty allowed all handling.

Rusty came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Rusty was friendly and relaxed, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Rusty came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and playful towards the assessor. He allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue. Rusty engaged with the assessor in play during the tag portion of the assessment. He only displayed minimal interest in the toy item when the assessor attempted to take it from him with the assess-a-hand. They behavior department believes that Rusty can go to an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away.
01/27/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

When off leash with other dogs, Rusty greets the other dog with a tall, stiff body. He immediately becomes persistently sexually motivated but will respond to the handler’s interruptions. 2/01 update: Rusty greets the helper dog with a loose, wiggly body. He engages in high energy, bouncy play and occassionally attempts to mount but responds immediately to corrections from the other dog.
