09/09/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/09/16 14:04 Basic Info: Ruby A1089127 is a 7yr old spayed female white & tan AMPBT mix who was found as taken from an abusive situation as a puppy and is being surrendered due to the owner’s health. She was last seen by a veterinarian in 2009 and currently has no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Around strangers Ruby is friendly/outgoing unless you’re yelling/hitting a child then she’ll try to “go after you” as she’s very protective of children (she’s never bitten/scratched any person/animal). She’s lived with children ages 6months-early 20’s and was gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful with them also the adults in the home. Ruby lived with dogs of different sizes and a cat who would all bully her as she’s such a mush. Behavior: Ruby isn’t bothered by the following: having her food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being brushed or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. She loves bath time and will sit there especially if you’re brushing her as well. She hasn’t had her nails trimmed. If someone approaches the home/family member Ruby will bark and or jump on them to pet her. For A New Family to Know: Ruby is friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow, excitable & independent with a medium activity level. She enjoys sleeping & or playing. She enjoys squeaky, rope, ball toys and games of fetch, chase & tug. Ruby is mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on her bed & is walked 2-3x a day. Ruby eats wet & dry Pedigree 2x a day and is given chewy, long striped rectangle shaped treats. When left home alone Ruby is well behaved and can be placed in a crate for a few hours (if needed). Intake Behavior: Ruby allowed all handling. She allowed to be collared & taken pictures of including positioning her during her photo session which was a little difficult as she was very wiggly and wanted to jump onto my lap and or grab the squeaky toy. Ruby then walked into the kennel on her own after a treat her owner left her with.
09/13/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Ruby is such a sweetie pie. I took her out for a walk she looked at me so happy that I was choosing her first of all the dogs to walk. Happy to try and open the door with her nose by herself. When we got to the park we took a rest at the bench and she stood up with her front two feet up on the bench next to me to let me pat her belly while she caught her breath. I scratched under her collar and that was the best. She looked straight into my eyes with her tongue hanging out almost like she was talking to me with her eyes “That feels good”. Then we continued on our way and she walked so nicely next to me. What a great pet this girl would be. Another volunteer writes: As I was kenneling her neighbor, Ruby let me know she would appreciate a walk now that dinner was over. Not being one to refuse a polite request, out we went. She’s awesome on leash, seems housetrained, gentle, calm, gives the sweetest kisses, and is doing the best she can without her person who is now too ill to care for her. Ruby is a dog I can imagine by my side forever, an easy companion, unassuming and grateful for the love. Are you going to be the lucky one? A volunteer writes: Looking for your crown jewel? Your priceless gem? Your precious stone? Look no further. The ruby is said to be the “stone of nobility.” It is captivating, magnificent, and valued among many over even the diamond. Well I would certainly take our Ruby over a shiny rock any day. At 7 years old, she is exactly the age all nobility should be. She is calm, graceful, elegant, and of course, benevolent. The threads of grey that move through her otherwise camel and white coat reveal a wisdom designed for ruling. But this gorgeous heir isn’t content to sit high upon her throne. Ruby is a dog of the people, and on a recent walk, happily shows me her love of all creatures great and small. Ruby stays right by my side as we stroll through the park looking up at me endlessly. “I’m listening,” she seems to say, “I’m here,” her eyes tell me, and I feel certain that any grievance I have is one Ruby will aim to fix

During intake, she allowed all handling, very wiggly and attempted to jump on admission counselor’s lap. She walked nicely on leash for her relief walk once she relieved herself. Once in the SAFER assessment room, Ruby appeared friendly, soliciting attention. During Look, her eyes were averted, body soft and tail wagging. She leaned in for Sensitivity, body loose.
